Mission Statement:
St. Anne Catholic School is an open, friendly and welcoming school
where we live our Christian faith in words as well as deeds.
We provide a safe haven for our children, instilling a sense of
pride and respect for themselves, others, and for their environment.
Our children are continuously encouraged to strive to achieve their
own personal potential in every aspect of their spiritual, academic,
social and physical growth.
Clubs, Programs & Activities
Students from grade 5 along with staff and parent volunteers participate
in a multiple day institute on leadership. Skilled trainers helped
groups explore topics such as being friends and allies, eliminating
racism, listening powerfully, understanding gender equity and building
an inclusive classroom. Students then deliver this message of being
a good ally to classes within the school.
Students from grades 5 through 8 can participate in Math Challenge.
These children, in groups of three, need to work cooperatively in
order to solve challenging math problems. The teams then compete
against many other schools within our Board. Each division ( grades
5 & 6, and grades 6,7 and 8) will have five challenges starting
in October and ending by May. The top three teams are announced
by June of each year.
Students from grades 6 and 7 are invited to join the team. Practices
and games take place after school hours. Weekend tournaments usually
take place in the fall.

Students from grades 3 to 8 take part in the school wide track and
field event. The top athletes will participate in the school board
wide event in late May or early June. All events take place during
school hours.
Grade 7 French Immersion students, led by Mrs. Roy-Serré,
take on the challenge of composting, recycling and maintaining the
cleanliness of the school grounds. In January 2005, St. Anne School
won a Vermi composter for participation in “The Cleanest School
Yard Program” sponsored by the City of Greater Sudbury. The
composter has approximately 1 pound of red worms who work hard at
decomposing organic materials. We will soon see and use the rich
nutrient soil to plant pine seedlings from Mme Shonwise’s
French Immersion Kindergarten class.
Mrs. Roy-Serré and some students from grade 6 oversee the
school’s energy conservation efforts. (School Board project).
Held at special times throughout the year.
This school incentive program is aimed at recognizing the students
who perform acts of kindness or of good citizenship in the school.
Childhood/Enfance provides the school with food for the students
who forget their lunch at home.
Grade 6 students meet weekly with the principal for this program
aimed at helping students deal with bullying.
Special days are planned to entice students
into the world of Literacy and Numeracy. Special guests are often
invited to read and students enjoy a variety of stories as they
rotate from class to class. They also delight in the variety of
related activities which teachers provide. We all love those days,
but one of our favourites has to be "Grandparent Literacy Day".
Grandparents join us in the classroom to read to and listen to their
grandchildren read. They then join together with friends and grandchildren
for a cup of tea, a little treat and a lot of good company. "Literacy
is not for the fortunate few. It is the right of every child."
(Bouchard and Sutton, 2001, pg 3). Another favourite is the “100th
Day of School” where many numeracy activities are enjoyed.
Thanks to St. Anne teachers, parents, and the community for working
together to make this happen for our children.
St. Anne Angels participate in Crazy Hair Day, Wear Something with
Polka Dots, You are my Sunshine - Wear Something Yellow Day along
with many other specialty days throughout the year.
The poets at St. Anne School enter many contests throughout the
school year and enjoy sharing their successes with classmates and
family.
Every second year, the students from grades 3 to 8 can participate
in this competition at the school level. Winners move on to the
School Board Level Competition.
Every alternate year, the students from grades 3 to 8 can participate
