7. Labels
Please make sure that your child’s school bag, coat, hats,
mittens, paint shirt, running shoes, clothes and other belongings
have his/her name on them. Children often do not recognize their
own belongings. This labeling is so important especially since it
is common that two or more students have identical clothing items
(i.e. boots, running shoes, etc.).

12. Preparing Your Child
for Junior Kindergarten
Should you wish to prepare your child for Junior Kindergarten,
here are some habits to promote or suggestions of activities to
do:
- saying prayers (you can also read illustrated Bible/religious
books together)
- Often, pre-school children want to learn how to print their
names. If you teach them
this at home, please use Upper and Lower case letters. Example:

KAYLA, Justin and not JUSTIN
- getting dressed alone (shoes, boots, coats, etc.)
- blowing one’s nose independently
- going to the washroom alone
- playing with others calmly (without arguing)
- putting toys and other things away (tidying up)
- using crayons, scissors, and glue (exercise these skills often)
- learning how to deal with one’s anger, shyness, crying,
impatience
- sharing, waiting one’s turn
- politeness and respect of others
- listening attentively and follow directions
